It's officially official! I've been waiting for my license to be confirmed through the New York State Medical Board. Today I FINALLY received confirmation! They say it takes between 4-6 weeks from the day your test results are released. It took me 4 weeks and 2 days.
I've done a lot of soul searching over the last 4 weeks and have been "cleaning house" in preparation for the next adventure. Although I have a per diem job lined up at a local hospital in Internal Medicine, I've been networking throughout the NY metro area.
Over the last few years I've really learned the importance of trusting my gut. I've developed somewhat of a sixth sense over this past year of clinical rotations. It is that "sixth sense" that I'm relying on now to help me choose the next best path to venture down. I've put myself in a position for change and the universe has been responding.
It is exhiliarating yet frightening.
It is...LIFE.
Life outside of the classroom, life outside of the short white coat, life outside of the "I'm just a student" safety net.

- Majored in Psychology at SUNY Albany. “Studied” abroad in Australia (Scuba Diving 101), introduced to the beauty of international relations. After graduation, I moved to Japan to teach English with the JET Programme. I fell in love with the people and culture of Asia: Japan,Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong, Bali, Vietnam, India, Nepal. Returned to NY after 2 1/2 years overseas. Waitressed. Considered journalism, law, and medicine. Worked at a non-profit AIDS organization, where I was introduced to the PA profession. HIV/AIDS Educator, Peer Program Manager, HIV pre/post test counselor for 2 1/2 years. Certified as a Personal Trainer: 2 1/2 years and counting. Shadowed an amazing PA and decided: PA SCHOOL OR BUST. Made a lot of difficult personal decisions, moved back home with the family, and went back to school full-time to complete pre-reqs. After 16 months of pre-reqs, question marks, frazzled nerves and interviews, I started PA school in August 2005. And so begins the next adventure...
